During the 5th International Summer School on Managed Aquifer Recharge (MARISS2023) organised by the Division of Water Sciences at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences (HTWD), Jana Glass and Catalin Stefan offered an introductory training course on web-based modelling of managed aquifer recharge (MAR) applications using the INOWAS platform. The course provided the participants with the basic knowledge in using the MODFLOW-based numerical tools for planning a hypothetical MAR site. This included a step-by-step introduction to the platform and the setup of a numerical groundwater flow model, followed by a scenarios analysis that focused on the optimization of MAR operation parameters in order to fullfill the water demand of a mid-size town in Latin America.
